Western Front Battlefield Tours specialise in Tailor-Made battlefield tours for groups of like minded individuals with a shared interest. Our customers range from family groups visiting the battlefields where once their ancestors fought to Regimental Associations retracing their units Great War history.

Each battlefield tour is unique to the specific requirements of the group. Nothing is pre-empted; you specify what you want to do, where you want to go, how long you want to stay, and how you want to travel. We will then Tailor your requirements into a unique battlefield tour.

Once we have established the purpose of your battlefield tour and what you want to do, we will provide you with a cost for your tour and a day by day itinerary. During the proceeding weeks leading up to your battlefield tour, our detailed research will be added to the itinerary, culminating in each customers own unique tour pack.

"We pride ourselves on being different from the more commercially minded tour companies"

 Our Background

Western Front Battlefield Tours is run by husband and wife, Stephen & Nancy BInks. We have been taking customers to the battlefields since 1994 and started our tour business in 2003. My interest in the Great War goes way back to school days in the early 70's and a chance stop at a war cemetery "somewhere in France" in 1977. I remember thinking about how these men came to be buried, here, in France? Married life and four children later I was looking for something to read in the local library and stumbled across "Armageddon Road", the brief war diary of Billy Congreve; it changed my life.

Already a frequent visitor to France for holidays, it wasn't long before we started to take longer and longer detours to the battlefields - first to Picardy, then to Flanders - in search of those places which Congreve had written about. I was absolutely hooked and was soon organising battlefield tours for those friends and family members who could put up with my insatiable appetite for anything Great War related. Everybody dreams of their ideal job - mine was to become a battlefield guide -  with my own battlefield tour company. Big sacrifices have been made, but the rest, as they say, is history!
